About Us

With a vision aimed at generating jobs and economic development in Mazatlán and Sinaloa, our group was formed in November 1972. Don Julio Berdegue, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, inaugurated El Cid with a Country Club and nine-hole golf course. Over the years, the course has grown to 27 holes, nine of which were designed by Lee Trevino, a globally recognized golf personality.

In line with the development of the golf course, tennis and racquetball courts, a lap pool, fitness center, steam, sauna, and spa facilities were added in addition to the Prime Grill restaurant, Sushi Bar, and Hole 19 members' lounge.

Following the growth of the Country Club, El Cid developed the Granada Hotel & Country Club in 1974, introducing the concept of All-Inclusive and European Plans. In addition to its 126 rooms, El Cid Granada has a pool and restaurant, wrapped in a calm and relaxing atmosphere for our guests.

In 1982, the El Cid Castilla Beach hotel opened its 393 rooms, with some accommodations offering fabulous ocean views from private balconies. This property embraced the concepts of both All-Inclusive and European Plans. The facilities, amenities, and services offered were aimed to satisfy guest needs, including a sprawling pool and popular Kids Club.

El Cid El Moro was inaugurated in 1989. This tower has 28 floors and 314 room types, ranging from junior suites to multiple room suites with kitchen activities. The property became popular with El Cid Vacation Club members and guests who preferred the European Plan. A beach, pools with waterfalls, restaurants, and various additional attractions make this hotel well sought after.

Six years later, in line with the company's vision of expansion, the Hotel Marina El Cid was built and strategically positioned on El Cid Marina. This hotel, featuring 210 suites, offers Mediterranean-style comfort, swimming pools with waterfalls, a restaurant, and a private beach - creating a relaxing retreat for guests on All-Inclusive or European Plans.

Hotel Marina El Cid is complemented by a professional marina operated by Aries Fleet. Our Marina accommodates 120 boats, ranging from 25 to 120 feet in length, and offers additional services such as fishing, sailing, cruises, and recreational outings. Similarly, fishing tournaments such as the annual Billfish Classic have been internationally recognized.

In 2001, our group expanded east toward the Mexican Caribbean, through the purchase of La Ceiba, located on the island of Cozumel. The hotel has 60 rooms with ocean views, spacious private balconies, and detailed marble. Extraordinary snorkeling and scuba diving are offered on site, wrapped in serene calm and beauty.

In February 2006, El Cid opened its doors on the Riviera Maya, with the Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort in Puerto Morelos -- just 15 minutes from the city of Cancún/Riviera Maya. Its unique location, across from the second largest coral reef in the world, creates a unique world-class setting. The modern architectural style harmonizes perfectly with its environment, and mangrove reserves and endangered animals such as crocodiles have been carefully protected. Our 342 guest rooms with ocean views offer numerous comforts such as pools with waterfalls, water slides, restaurants, shops, and an endless number of services with world-class standards. And in the fall of 2007, a convention center was added to hold 500 attendees. Riviera Maya also saw the opening of the El Cid Marina, which operates services from the yacht club through Aries Shipping. The El Cid Marina has capacity for 150 boats from 25 to 120 feet in length, providing services for fisheries, ecological tours, and boat rentals.
